The new Grant County Judicial Center is a new free standing structure consisting of approximately 48,000 s.f. of programmed area. The site selected for this new Judicial Center is directly east of the existing Grant County Justice Center located in downtown Williamstown, Kentucky. The new Court Facility will be located on a series of recently purchased combined privately and publicly owned properties. Combined as a single parcel of land, the site will contain approximately 8.3-acres. The sites are currently developed with a professional office building, and two vacant residential structures. The site is approximately 1/8 mile west of the existing courthouse.
A Classical design approach to this new Judicial Center is very fitting to this project. The existing architectural style of the existing Justice Center and downtown historical district will only complement the style of the new facility.
The Judicial Center design will consist of two main building floor levels and a partial lower level. This first floor will consist of the District Courtroom with associated support spaces, District Judge’s Chambers, Circuit Court Clerk’s Offices, pre-trial, CDW and Drug Court Offices, main building public secure entry, and facility public circulation areas.
The second floor will consist of the Circuit Courtroom, with associated support spaces, Circuit Court Judge’s Chambers, Family Court/Hearing Room, Family Court Judges Chambers, Grand Jury Suite, Special Judge’s/Visiting Judge’s offices, and facility public circulation areas.
The lower level will consist of the main prisoner sallyport and holding areas, mechanical room, electrical service room, judicial entry, and building storage.
