HILLIARD LYONS RELOCATION TO PNC PLAZA
The Hilliard Lyons office is an interior fit out designed to encourage productivity and collaboration within a complex corporate organization. This office occupies five full floors and three partial floors of the PNC Plaza building in Louisville, Kentucky.
The investment firm Hilliard Lyons relocated its corporate office to PNC Plaza in 2006 at the behest of its parent company. For this project, JRA Architects collaborated with Gensler, a corporate architecture firm, and Goodall Gallery, an interior design firm. JRA Architect’s scope included verification of existing conditions, design consultation, production of construction documents, and construction administration.
The design for the Hilliard Lyons suite is modern and integrates the company’s expansive art collection. Extensive glazing at the offices and conference rooms adjacent to the building exterior fosters communications and allows natural light to permeate into the office spaces at the building core. Radiused “bookend” walls mark vertical circulation components and serve to orient visitors. A new stair that connects five floors was incorporated to facilitate communication between departments located on different levels. Program elements such as break areas and conference rooms are located immediately adjacent to the stair. A curvilinear, sculptural element at the stair parallels the company’s history with this river city.
