Bittner's Office Building | Louisville, Ky
The Bittners building is a combination of retail and office occupancies located on two floors. The building uses a steel framed structural system and the exterior finishes contain a combination of limestone, brick and metal panels. The roof system uses a pre-painted copper system to achieve it's unique green color. A continuous painted steel arbor also runs along the length of the entry facade.
The ground floor was originally designed to contain the Bittners retail store tenant space as well as space for 3 other retail tenants, each with its own separate ground floor access. This space was redesigned in 2003 to house the Rhodes department store and now contains 2 separate retail stores for men and women. The first floor also contains an oval shaped entrance lobby which serves as the access point for the offices located above. The centerpieces of this lobby are the cherry clad eliptical grand staircase and matching eliptical skylight above.
The second floor is divided into several separate private business office suites. Current tenants are the Owsley Fraizer Foundation, Dancor Commercial Realty Offices, a Dental Office Suite and a Dermatology Office Suite.
