Credit Where Credit Is Due

University of Kentucky Federal Credit Union

University of Kentucky Federal Credit Union

Developed in 1937 by a group of University of Kentucky College of Agriculture employees, the University of Kentucky Federal Credit Union (UKFCU) has continued to provide a place for Kentuckians to borrow, invest, and save money. JRA Architects partnered with UKFCU to build a new branch to better serve its members in Southeast Lexington.

While we love to stretch our creative muscles, there are instances such as this, where architectural brands already exist, and our charge is to remain faithful to an established design in order to maintain consistency from location to location. Given our experience in the financial services industry, though, we always strive to find ways to improve upon a design’s functionality and to explore ways to reduce expenses. The one-story structure is fabricated with cold-formed metal studs, steel frame wood trusses and a metal roof. Exterior walls are composed of a combination of pre-manufactured stone, limestone, brick, and an exterior insulation and finish system. These different materials create visual interest in the building’s exterior. The bank’s large circular lobby space is open and welcoming to member customers.

For over 50 years, the UKFCU has been a staple in Kentucky’s financial services industry, and JRA is proud to have helped them grow and prosper while providing a better place for members to conduct their banking needs.
